The North Porirua Kāhui Ako consists of eleven schools who have worked together over many years in the Parumoana cluster. The North Porirua Kāhui Ako community of learning was established in 2016 and includes a secondary school, Aotea College providing coeducational education for Years 9 -13, nine full primary coeducational schools for Years 1-8; Pukerua Bay school, Plimmerton school, Paremata school, Papakowhai school, Rangikura school, Postgate school, Discovery school, Adventure school and Pauatahanui school, and one integrated co educational primary school, Saint Theresa’s, for Years 1-6.
The schools draw from a vibrant and diverse community, from nga hau e wha. Our learners come from urban and rural settings, from families with long ties to the area and families who come from all parts of New Zealand, from further across the Pacific and from across the world.
Teachers across the North Porirua Kāhui Ako engage with a range of external experts including people from Otago University and Evaluation Associates. There is active professional leadership in professional learning within and across the Kāhui Ako schools.
The area served by North Porirua Kāhui Ako is undergoing significant roll growth. Roll numbers range in size from a school of nearly 200 to the largest at nearly 1200.
